Mapusa is situated in North Goa. It is also spelt as Mhapsa, Mapuca and Mapsa by the residents. Situated nearly 12kms from capital city Panaji, Mapusa is the headquarters of the Bardez district. The city is always crowded by the residents as well as tourists. Various beaches and other worth tourists visiting places are easily approachable from this cramped town. It is the third largest city in Bardez taluka and is a celebrated market town.
The town is cramped once in a week that is on Friday for Friday Market. The residents of the town gather here to sell or buy goods such as dry fruits, spices, dry fish, fresh fish, fruits, vegetable, handicrafts, etc. The weekly market also stalls for trinkets, seashell jewelry, clothes, etc. It is ideal destination for shopaholics. The market is imbued with Goan charm and has always remained talk of the town.

The best time to visit Mapusa is from October to April. Mapusa is also blessed with eyeful architecture. Mascarenhas Mansion is worth counting in the same category. Built during Portugal reign, this mansion has earned brownie points for its par excellence Portugal architecture. It is well known for its L shaped seat, balconies and stained glass floral engravings.
Mapusa is well connected to airport, train and road and is thence approachable easily. The town also houses many dining options catering delish lip smacking cuisines. Tourists can also participate in various parties and water sports hosted on nearby beaches. Nearby tourists attraction includes D. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
