Panjim is the capital of Indian state situated in Konkan region & at the bay of Arabian Ocean, Goa. Panjim is also popularly known as Panaji. Panaji literally means “land that never floods”. Parça da Igreja is the point of convergence. It has the Baroque Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church built by Portuguese in 1541. Travelers should also visit Adilshahi Palace, Menezes Braganza Institute, Jama Maszid, Mahalaxmi Temple, St. Sebastian, Foutianhas area, Hanuman Mandir, etc. The month of February is busiest month as it has Carnival celebrations for three days. The inhabitants get busy in the preparations for the Carnival parades. It is the most awaited festival celebration in the city. It is reveled with endless zeal. 18th June Road is famous for being the busiest shopping arcade. Tourists will find array of shops offering cashew nuts, cashew liquor, spicy sausages, books and many more. Nature lovers would love visiting Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. Kala Academy mirrors the culture of the Goan. It hosts dramas, musicals and plays. Tourists who are bookworms and who love being around books can pay visit to Central library.
