Vasco Da Gama is historical importance and is also one of the busiest ports of the state Goa. Located on the narrow strip of western Mormugao Taluka, this port town was discovered under Portuguese rule in1543. In less than no time it became popular and busiest port. The port is connected with various foreign nations for trade business. Today, the city is developing as industrial center of the state. The bustling town is easily accessible by air, road, train and sea too. The only airport of the state, Dabolim Airport and Thivim railway station are at stone throw’s distance.
The shipping center has gained lot of attention in terms of tourism as well. The famous Bogmalo beach is cynosure of the town. The less commercialized beach is ideal to enjoy laid back moments with family and friends. Try dining delish Goan cuisine on the beach shacks catering hot and spicy fresh seafood. Naval aviation center is another place tourists would love being at. Just next to the airport, built in 1998, this Naval displays the varied history of the country. The port also features cruises taking tourists for short ride. Japanese Garden is another place in the town for tourists. Situated on the hill, this garden gives excellent glimpse of the beach. Other places nearby are Baina beach, Velsao, Pilot Point, etc.
As everything in close radius, people prefer halting in Vasco before preceding their trip further. The bustling city is dotted with everything one wants. The capital city is mere 30kms away. The biggest festival of the state also takes place in Vasco. The Saptah festival is reveled in Damodhar temple for 15 days.
